Reading Support
Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
Conduct dyslexia screenings to determine if further assessment is needed.
Interpret screening and assessment results to inform instructional planning and intervention strategies.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, supporting a team to reach common goals and listening and responding appropriately to the concerns of families and staff members.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of student assessments, interventions, and progress.
Design and implement evidence-based, personalized intervention tailored to each student’s needs.
Povide explicit, systematic, and multi-sensory instruction in phonics, decoding, fluency, and comprehension.
Regularly assess student progress and adjust interventions based on data and observations.
Provide training and professional development to teachers and families, and the community on various topics including evidence-based, best practices and research in intervention and reading instruction, including the Orton-Gillingham approach and the Read Naturally Program.
Provide support to teachers in the design and implementation of educational programs and services for students.
Develop positive relationships with students to support their social and emotional learning.
Approach learning and support in a team-centered environment.
Attend events outside school hours such as weekly staff meetings, open houses and professional development sessions.
Enjoy working with children in a busy educational setting.
Qualifications:
A minimum of five years of experience providing reading intervention support to children with language-based learning differences.
Eperience providing the Orton-Gillingham phonics-based, multi-sensory approach. Candidates with an associate or certified level of Orton- Gillingham are preferred.
Experience providing the Read Naturally Program to primary and middle school students. Candidates with Read Naturally Trainer level certification are preferred.
SCARS and CPR/First Aid certified, or available to attend training.
Must be able to demonstrate experience in managing student caseloads and providing successful interventions.
