Reading Support 

Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct dyslexia screenings to determine if further assessment is needed. 

  • Interpret screening and assessment results to inform instructional planning and intervention strategies. 

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, supporting a team to reach common goals and listening and responding appropriately to the concerns of families and staff members. 

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of student assessments, interventions, and progress. 

  • Design and implement evidence-based, personalized intervention tailored to each student’s needs. 

  • Povide explicit, systematic, and multi-sensory instruction in phonics, decoding, fluency, and comprehension. 

  • Regularly assess student progress and adjust interventions based on data and observations. 

  • Provide training and professional development to teachers and families, and the community on various topics including evidence-based, best practices and research in intervention and reading instruction, including the Orton-Gillingham approach and the Read Naturally Program. 

  • Provide support to teachers in the design and implementation of educational programs and services for students. 

  • Develop positive relationships with students to support their social and emotional learning. 

  • Approach learning and support in a team-centered environment.

  • Attend events outside school hours such as weekly staff meetings, open houses and professional development sessions.

  • Enjoy working with children in a busy educational setting.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years of experience providing reading intervention support to children with language-based learning differences.

  • Eperience providing the Orton-Gillingham phonics-based, multi-sensory approach. Candidates with an associate or certified level of Orton- Gillingham are preferred.

  • Experience providing the Read Naturally Program to primary and middle school students. Candidates with Read Naturally Trainer level certification are preferred.

  • SCARS and CPR/First Aid certified, or available to attend training.

  • Must be able to demonstrate experience in managing student caseloads and providing successful interventions.
