Specialized Support Teacher
Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
Support teachers in the design and implementation of educational programs and services for students.
Be knowledgeable of student assessments, including their individual diagnosis and recommendations.
Organize and manage interventions that will benefit students.
Collaborate with families to support the implementation of recommendations.
Collaborate with speech and language and occupational therapists, Reading Clinic tutors, and other supportive services to schedule therapy intervention sessions and track student progress.
Track important progress metrics and develop necessary intervention plans.
Develop positive relationships with students to support their social and emotional learning.
Collaborate with teachers to design community-based learning opportunities for students that connect with the curriculum, including guest visitors and organizing transportation when needed.
Approach teaching in a team-centered environment.
Attend events outside of school hours such as weekly staff meetings, open houses and professional development sessions.
Enjoy working with children in a busy educational setting.
Qualifications:
Teaching qualifications (B.Ed., PGCE, QTS) from an internationally accredited college or university.
Must have completed a minimum of 12 weeks of student teaching with an internationally accredited university.
A minimum of five years of experience teaching children with learning differences.
Licensed with the Bermuda Educator’s Council or meets the requirements to obtain a license.
SCARS and CPR/First Aid certified, or available to attend training certification.
Must be able to demonstrate experience in managing student caseloads and providing successful interventions.
Experience working in a team environment.
